A
GUOD FOR. THE PEOPLE

The annoupcement of (?ol. E. B.
White as a candidate for Represen-
tative in Congress from this Dis- -
trict means much good to the Dem-
ocratic party and the whole people
in Alexandria County.

There will be a primary ‘next
August—and thereafter. That is
wholesomely Democratic. The
Alexendria County Committee
' yoted for party aligcment and pri-
mary selection of candidates a year

But somehow action in the matter
has lagged and the fusion group
of Democrats and Republicans who
have for many years been in con-
trol of county affairs have been get-
ting along together as well as ever,
And it may be admitted at once
they have done tolerably well.

But there is room for improve-
ment, many think great room and
add a filigree work of charges of
incompetency and of favoritism in
county business a n d°contracts: fi'
Conceding large exaggeration in
this it will be in keeping with
American methods to have a re-
sponsible party government. Dem-
ocrat or Republican. : 5

Col. White will help-move the
county out of a political rut.

—Rosslyn Cg,mmonwealth.
