PUBLIC HEARING ON SALES TAX

Your Virginia School Boards Association has formerly endorsed
the princ1ple of a Sales Tax for Virginia° The General Assembly now
has a state sales tax under consideration.

A hearlng on this subject will be held Wednesday, February 15,
in Richmond. It will begin at 3:00 P. M. in Room 20 or in the House
of Delegates in the Capitol Building. The VSBA has been assigned
20 minutes at this hearing.

At its October Convention the Association went on record for a
state sales tax, the major portion of which would be earmarked for
educational purposes. This hearing will provide us with the
opportunity of expressing our views before the concerned members of
the Legislature. Your Association would like to have at least one

menber present from each school board in the state.
