RULES AND REGULATIONS

FOR

Loudoun County Teachers, 1922-23

REPORTS
1. Monthly reports must be made by each teacher on the last school
day of each calendar month and must reach the office of the division sup-
erintendent not later than three days after the last school day of the month.
A delay in a teacher’s report may delay his or her pay for an entire month.
All days for which teachers are entitled to pay are to be counted as days

taught.

Suspension and Expulsion of Pupils

6. Pupils may be suspended by teachers and permitted by them to

return to school. In such a case the suspension cannot exceed two weeks.

: 27 Teachers can not expel pupils but may recommend such action to the county

/}?‘,«,‘f"/ school board. In such cases the suspension may be in effect until the next

= meeting of the county school board and the teacher’s recommendzation must

be sent in writing to the board. In ail cases of suspension the parents and

superintendent must be promptly notified in writing by the teacher or prin-

cipal. Teachers must regard suspension even for a day as a very serious
form of punishment.

Truancy and Absences

7. All cases of truancy should be promptly reported to the parents and
superintendent. All absences should be investigated by each teacher as far
as possible. A written excuse from parents must be required in case of
all absences. In many cases a short talk with parents will secure better
attendance or correct habits of tardiness.

Use of Tobacco Prohibited

8 The use of tobacco by teachers and pupils on school grounds and
on school wagons is prohibited. For the first offense the teacher shall notify
the parents and for the second offense the teacher may suspend the pupil
for one week, or use other form of punishment in his discretion.
