PURCELLVILLE GRADED SCHOOL
PURCELLVILLE, VIRGINIA

May 27, 1955

e

To: Supt. O. L. Emerick
Subject: Mrs. Robert Philllps and the art Program
From: Purcellville Grade School

Had Mrs. Phillip's worked with the children directly-making suggestions
then, it would have been fine. She was of no help as far as art
appreciation, and wery little otherwise.

r

Mrs. Phillips' work is not organized. My children do not understand her
becauses she uses such a large vocabulary.

Mrs. Phillip's suggestions have been helpful to me even tho her assistance
has not been What I expeeted and she has not had enough time with us.

Mrs. Phillips' work would be very baneficlal if concentrated in much
smaller area.

»

_OQur Art period with frs. Phillips was met only once. She was always
late or never appeared at all as we were the last onges for the day and
she generally met all classes 10 min, t8©30 min. late.

M#ts. Phillips'! art work in grade 6 has been quite inadequate in time
and visits.

Claymodeling under the direction of Mrs. Phillips in grade 5 was
successful, however if this type of art is to be given next sessioh,

I'd want a different work space and be sure plans make for a kiln in our
school.
