Mrs. Yildred Jackson, Pres.
Paront Teachers Assoclation
¥iddleburg, Virginia
Decr Mrs. Jacksont
I have & comunicatlon dated Jarmery 16, 1945 in which it
1s stated that the esction of the School Doard in providing for
the sdditional school in Middleburg in & rented room has been
rejected by your FTA. The former communtétation from your PTA
signed by & number of psrents and transmitted to me by Hrse
velvine 'eal, secretary, reguested Banother room" o
Yie have assumed that another room would mean another
teacher also would have to be proved. This was done as promptly
gs possible, JF=mm=eppesed—to — :
I am opposed to building an addition to the old building
st Middleurg but I am in favor of building a new bullding es
soon as 1t is ressonable to 4O E0s May I point out thet your
communication dated Januery 16th is the first one that in. my
knowlddgze has come to us in which you have suggested or requested
a new bulldinge.
In normal times the construction of a new school building
of the type that would be required at Midadleburs necessltates
a great deal of plannings
The first step would heve to be the location, selection and
purchase of a suitable school lote
The second step would have to be the preparation of plens.
; The therd step would have to be applying for a priority.
Under present conditions my information and knowledge is thet
we could expect this to Le promptly refused by the var Produce
tion Board.
The fourth step would be a careful caluletion of the cost
of the building snd eg:ipment and the 1
gk S gulp securing of the necossary
I want to suggest that with a reasonable amount of co
g ou opera-
tiqn from your people we ou ht to begin at an early date top
meke perparetion for & new school bullding et Middleburg.
