Hello Mr. Roeder,
Anna Carneal and our archives volunteer Martha Wolford looked through archives to
see if we could locate any information for you. Unfortunately, we came up mostly
empty handed.
We found the following information:

We do not have any documents related to any scholarships in the 1930s. However, in the
book Morley there is a reference to a William & Mary scholarship in the late 1920s (pg
84). The endnote for this cites documents at UVA. We do not have any copies of these
documents within our files. Mrs. Davis gave all of Gov. Davis’ papers from his time in office
to UVA. Perhaps other papers were mixed in as well so it may be worth reaching out to them
to see what they may have.
We have a March 1952 letter from Douglas High School Principal Stephen M. Sydnor to Mrs.
Davis thanking her for donating $100 towards the purchase of typewriters for the Business
Education Course. If you would like a copy of this letter, we will be happy to provide it.
With that said, I don’t believe it would be worth your time to come look through our
records. Let me know if you would like a copy of the Douglas donation letter.
