She held a teaching position at Philomont School in the 1944-45 academic year, where she taught multiple grade levels. Known for her punctuality, cooperation, and overall professional attitude, Mrs. James was highly regarded by her peers and supervisors. After her teaching career, she worked as a practical nurse at Loudoun Memorial Hospital and in private duty nursing. She was also a devoted member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Purcellville. Mrs. Rose Humphrey James passed away in 1982 at the age of 83.
