2.5.A Petitions (C) County Wide League
Letter to Emerick 3/16/1940
Loudoun County Training School is fire trap

Leesburg, Va
March 16, 1940
Mr. O.L. Emerick
District Superintendent1
County Schools
Leesburg, Va
Dear Mr. Emerick:
Tuesday, March 12, 1940, Mr. Charles H. Houston called your attention to the
fact that the Loudoun County Training School Building is a fire trap. The fire
escape is inaccessible; the window opening on the fire escape has no sash cords
and the drum of oil under the steps resting on an oil soaked floor is a hazard
which, as parents and citizens we cannot permit to continue.
We respectfully call on you to correct these conditions immediately or to
withdraw the pupils from said building and send them to some safe school
building.
Yours respectfully,
County Wide League
