VMrse Yildred Jackson, Pres,
Parent Teachers Association
ifiddleburg, Virginia

Dear lirs. Jacksont

I have & comrunication dated January 16, 1945 in which 1t
is stated that the sction of the School Doard in providing for
the additional school in Middleburg in a rented room has been
rejected by your PTA. The former communétation from youyr PTA
signed by a number of parents and trensmitted to me by lrs.
Yelvina leal, Secretary, reguested Hanother room",

We have assumed that another room would mean another
teacher slso would have to be proveds This was done as promptly
a8 possible, , : :

I am opposed to building an addition to the old building
&t Middleurg but I am in favor of building a new building ss
soon as 1t is reasonable to do so. May I point out that your
communication dated January 16th 1g the first one that in my
knowlddge has come to us in which you have suggested or requested

8 new bullding,

In normal times the construction of & new school building
of the type that would be required at Middleburs necessitates
a great deal of planning,

The first step would have to be the location, selection and
purchase of a suitable school lot.

The second step would have to bLe the preparation of plans.

The third step would have to be epplying for a priority.
Under present conditlons my informetion and knowled%e is that
we could expect this to be promptly refused by the War Produce
tion Board.

The fourth step would be & careful calulation of the cost
of the bullding snd egulipment and the securing of the necessary
funds.

1 want to suggest thet with a ressonable amount of cooperaw
tion from your people we ouzht to begin at an early date to
meke perparation for & new sehool bullding at Middleburg.
