Contimuence of & school at Unison-EBloomfield end the inevitable rerouting
of the high school btus fyrom Unison and Ploomfield directly into Round fiil#ae
that these high school pupils could leave home later in the morning would
directl neerly & room full of children from EBluemont, This would leave a twoe
room schoocl in & foure-proom bullding which has a 1ife expectancy of thirty
to forty yearass 1t could very well result in closing this school snt

It seems important thet 1 emphusige the fact that the finel consclidation
pleng in Loudoun County &s now set pmup for both high and elementary schools
is much more congervative than the sverage for Virginia Counties. Without
the Unisoneiloomfield school we would have fifteen elementary school centers
es follows: Aldlie, Arcola, Ashburn, Dluemont, Hamilton, Hillsboro, Leesburg,

Lincoln, Lovettsville, lucketts, Middleburg, Purcellville, Round Hill, “terle

P

ing, and Waterfords The average aree for sach school 1s 356 squere miles,
This ectually equals & radius of S0 miles reduced to the average.

Many of ooy’ schools face urgent need of Improved fecilities snd since
there is no eviderce that the construction of a new uilding in this case
would either Le of distincet educatlional advantege or reduce transportation

required, the pv*§0364 outlay of so large & sum would surely prove to be @&

boomerang that would cripple the future development of our schools in the

years to come,
