AT A CALLED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HELD IN AND FOR
THE COUNTY OF NECKLENBURG THEREOF ON TUZSDAY THE 13TH DAY OF
DECEMBER; 1955.
PRESENT: H., L. BRANKLEY, CHAIRMAN
H. T. ALLGOOD, M. I. BURNETT, J. L. CROWDER, C. S. NEWELL,
£. B. SIMMONS, S. &, SPAUDDING AND J. A. TAYLOR.

Whereas, The General Assembly of Virginia has enaeted by an
overwhelming vote an Act submitting to the people the questien
‘whether or not there shall be a limited convention, te which there
will be delegated by the people, only the limited powers ef
revising and amending Section 141 of the Constitution to make
possible certain legislation proposed by the Gray Commission; and

Whereas, His Excellency, Governor Thomas B, Stanley, has
set January 9, 1956, as the date for holding an election te decide
whether or not there shall be a convention; and

Whereas, we the Board of Supervisors of Mecklenburg County,
believe that the best interests of the public schools of Virginia
will be served by the enactment of the legislation proposed by the
Gray Commission;

Now, Therefore, be it resolved that we, the Board of
Bupervisors of lecklenburg County, urge all citizens interested
in the preservation and improvement of the public schools to wveote
“For” the convention; and be it further resolved that copies of
this resolution be sent to His Ixcellency, Governor Stanley, te

_all members of The General Assembly of Virginia, to all Beards of
Supervisors and City Councils, and to all School Boards of Virginia
