SUBJECT: Joint Meeting, Home Economics and Agriculture Teachers

During my recent visitas to schools, a number of questions have been raised by the
home econorics teachers and others regarding the intent and action of the recent
special session of the General Assembly, the objective of the referendum on

January 9, 1956, and the purposes of the proposed constitutional convention.fla

Supervisors of vocational agriculture education have faced this same situation.

Since this is a matter of such vital importance to schools and since recent

information in regard to the alove points has been made availablg, we belleve it
important to have a joint meeting of agriculture and home economics teachers to

discuss information made available.

Arrangements have been made to hold such a meeting on December 22, 1955 at the
Clarke County High School Library, Berryville, Virginia, at 2:00 P.M, We sincerely
hope that you will approve the attendance of your home economics teachers in the
schools listed below. FExpenses incurred by home economics teachers in attending
this mee.ing will be fully reimbursed from vocational funds. However, teachers

are expected to use the least expensive means of transportation and to travel
together by car whenever possible.

We hope that you can attend this meeting with your home economics teachers and
you may wish to invite the principals of the schools concerned. Because of the
limitations in time, copies of this letter are being sent directly to home
economics teachers with the request¥egfyof course, that they seek your approval
before planning to attend.
