This St .dy Of the S&,LBI‘le 9% UU:LO:L‘OO"\ rtonoanshara, having in plifld
the adjustment of their salaries to bhe basis of the schedule used for
white teachers by September 1945'uses the qualifications of 26 colored
teachers employed in 1940-41.
Tt does not account for pExiki= possible additional high school
teachers or for the sélary of the supervisor, 2/3 of which is paid by the
state.
The increases ovVer the previous year and total are as follows:
Increase over Total Increase
previous year over 1939-40
1940-41 - 10 months pay - 0old schedule 1735 1735
1941-42 - 11 months pay - old schedule 1690 5425
1942-43 - White schedule - Less 10% 2545 5970
1943-44 - White schedule - 2349 8319
We shall have to add to these figures 2 minimum of 2 additional
teachers for the high school and the increase made in the salary of the
supervisor. However the state pays & part of all three since the teachers
should be vocational and the state will figure in determining these
salaries.
Since the Governor has very specifically announced that he proposes
to provide in the 1942-44 biennium for a total eppropriation to each teacher
unit of $720 by 1043-44 we can now estimate on the basis of present
attendance increaces in state appropriations as follows:
LD AL~ - - - - = - i e AN
ML Ay ~ = =w e wm v = = BROY
TR AR o e o e w w w GROR
N I .
TOTAL 59, 400
It is suggested that in the period 1940-1944 some 1lncrease can be
o
o
made in the salaries of white teachers and the salaries of colored
teachers brought to & parity, all out of state funds.
