Paeonian Springs Colored

We don’t know if a Paeonian Springs colored school was ever built; but on October 16, 1934, the “colored” citizens of the hamlet told the School Board that they wanted a school for their children in lieu of sending their kids to Waterford, which was too far “to send the little ones and there is no transportation provided.” Regardless of whether the school actually came to be, we created this page to honor the Black parents who struggled to provide a proper education.
