Tate School Colored

Edited 8/23/2023

Tate was a Freedmen’s school started by Quakers in Loudoun. Might have been the start of schools at Philomont or Greggsville. There is evidence that seven Blacks received higher branch schooling here, which is a form of high school education at the lecture level. Tate was also known as Lincoln Colored School. See Lincoln for its history.
